WHO WE ARE

We are dedicated to enhancing voter education, and improving voter registration and turnout in the City of Detroit and surrounding areas. Our secondary goal is to provide the general electorate with information pertaining to candidates so that they can make well informed decisions while exercising their vote.

The Community Education Committee (CEC) is a 501(c)(4) tax-exempt organization
that is dedicated to enhancing voter education, and improving voter registration and turnout in the City of Detroit and surrounding areas. Our secondary goal is to provide the general electorate with information pertaining to candidates so that they can make well informed decisions while exercising their vote.

The CEC was incorporated in the state of Michigan in May 2020. As a 501(c)(4), CEC is a “Social Welfare Organization” under the IRS and reports its financial and programmatic activity to the IRS on an annual basis using IRS form 990. Most of form
990 is available for public inspection; however, the names of donors, which are disclosed to the IRS on Schedule B, are not made available to the public. In addition, contributions to CEC are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes.
